Hunter Mahan got off to a flyer yesterday with birdies on the first two holes and although the closing bogey took some of the shine off the round he is very much in contention.

PREVIEW
The darts has proved a costly debacle this week.

Clearly the answer with darts is to back the player with the WORSE head to head record.

We switch to golf today for the continuing Canadian Open at the Glen Abbey Golf Course.

As you can see from the previous winners it’s a tourney that often throws up a surprise winner.

It’s a tight leaderboard after round one with Brendan Steele an unlikely leader:

1 Brendan Steele -7
T2 Matt Kuchar -6
T2 Scott Gardiner -6
T2 Scott Brown -6
T5 Hunter Mahan -5
T5 David Lingmerth -5

Hunter Mahan got off to a flyer yesterday with birdies on the first two holes and although the closing bogey took some of the shine off the round he is very much in contention.

Mahan was recently in the headlines in the Open after he played in the final group on Sunday, alongside two-shot leader Lee Westwood.

In the end he dropped back to a tie of ninth but there’s far less pressure on his shoulders here.
