MATCH OF THE DAQ previews Nicolas Almagro v Jerzy Janowicz (Wimbledon , K.O 14.30, BBC 2)

British stars Laura Robson and Andy Murray may be the star attractions on Centre Court at Wimbledon this afternoon, but both are prohibitively short-priced and it could pay to focus on Nicolas Almagro v Jerzy Janowicz’s match sandwiched in between.

PREVIEW
British stars Laura Robson and Andy Murray may be the star attractions on Centre Court at Wimbledon this afternoon, but both are prohibitively short-priced and it could pay to focus on Nicolas Almagro v Jerzy Janowicz’s match sandwiched in between.

Janowicz has attracted a lot of attention this week, owing to his powerful serve and big groundstrokes which are potent weapons on any surface, but particularly grass. He had been struggling with an elbow injury this season and has made no secrets of his reservations about battling it out on grass courts, but the 24th seed was impressive in the first round with a straight sets defeat of Kyle Edmund.

His task was made straightforward when Radek Stepanek retired in the Pole’s next game and he will be fresher than his Spanish rival today. Almagro is another with a great serve but he’s not been past the third round at Wimbledon in eight previous attempts.

The 27-year-old is ranked six places higher than his younger opponent but Janowicz has made a big impression here, albeit in only one and a half games, and he should be able to justify favouritism at around 1.8 on BETDAQ.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
