MATCH OF THE DAQ previews Liverpool v Everton (Premier League, K.O 13.30, Sky Sports 1)

Everton have won just one of their last 12 Merseyside derbies, losing seven, and they haven’t won at Anfield since the last millennium. That would suggest Liverpool are worthy favourites at around 1.96 on BETDAQ when the teams meet this afternoon.

PREVIEW
Everton have won just one of their last 12 Merseyside derbies, losing seven, and they haven’t won at Anfield since the last millennium. That would suggest Liverpool are worthy favourites at around 1.96 on BETDAQ when the teams meet this afternoon.

David Moyes’ men are still holding on to slim hopes of making the Champions League places but in reality it looks like the best they could do is finish about city rivals Liverpool for successive seasons – the last time they did that was 1917.

Liverpool have enjoyed a really inconsistent season peppered with poor defeats but then glorious wins such as the 6-0 thrashing of Newcastle last week. That must have given the team confidence that they can win games even without top goalscorer and villain Luis Suarez, who will again be missing due to his ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic.

It’s worth noting, though, that the Reds have won just eight home league games all season – only one other team in the top ten has less – and have failed easier assignments than Everton versus the likes of Aston Villa and West Brom this season at Anfield.

That said, Everton are struggling for goals and draw too many games for them to be tipped up as winners. Take Liverpool to continue their domination at home over the boys in blue.
