PREVIEW
It’s been easy for England fans to laugh at Australia’s misfortune of late but they should remember the Three Lions have deficiencies of their own ahead of today’s one-day international which starts a summer of rivalry between the two teams culminating in The Ashes.

A comfortable victory over New Zealand in the Test series was followed by a rude awakening with the white ball, again versus the Black Caps. Martin Guptill took a real shine to England’s attack, who were without Stuart Broad and Steven Finn. Their batsmen fared little better with a top score of 37 in the first ODI and 34 in the second, ignoring Jonathan Trott’s slowly-accumulated century, exposing the dropped catches and slipshod fielding of their opponents.

Their rivals are in need of improvement too after their poor 243-run defeat against India in Cardiff. Only Phil Hughes and Adam Voges managed double figures – with eight others contributed five runs or fewer.

The money has come for the hosts with them now around 1.75 on BETDAQ and they are a tentative selection to strike first blood.
