PREVIEW
Try telling the 22 players that line up in today’s FA Cup final that the world’s oldest club competition has lost its meaning and glamour in recent years. Both Manchester City and Wigan will be desperate to close out their seasons with silverware to forget what have otherwise been disappointing campaigns.

City won this competition two years ago and, after claiming a first Premier League title last term, were expected to be challenging for honours across the board. But they were dumped out of Europe early, then the League Cup and found city rivals Manchester United far too strong in the league. Failure to win this will probably see Roberto Mancini move on and if rumours are to be believed even a victory may not be enough to placate the club’s hierarchy.

Wigan look increasingly likely to be relegated this season and they would be the first team to win the FA Cup and get relegated in the same year if those two outcomes do come about. It’s been a brave run to a maiden FA Cup final from Roberto Martinez’s men but it’s not hard to see why the layers on BETDAQ have City at just 1.35 with the Latics around 8.6.

The outsiders have failed to score a single goal in each of their last seven meetings with the Citizens, all defeats, and City have won ten of their last 11 FA Cup matches, keeping clean sheets in nine of those and losing just one.

Carlos Tevez has netted seven goals in 12 appearances against the Latics and the Argentinean hitman in the player to score market is the recommendation.
