AC Milan shocked Europe with a stunning 2-0 win in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie with Barcelona two weeks ago but there can be no complaints from the Spanish giants.
Milan were extremely impressive, disciplined in midfield and defence and showing an electric attacking flair on the break. A 2-0 win was the least they deserved, especially when you consider they could conceivably had at least two more and they restricted Barca to less than a handful of shots.
Lionel Messi, at the centre of an argument about who’s the greatest player ever, was anonymous and the Italian side travel to the Nou Camp knowing that Barca have never overturned a 2-0 deficit in their European history.
Not only that, they are aware that if they hit the net at any stage in the 90 minutes it will mean the hosts have to hit four goals to go through. That would be a mammoth ask against this mean defence and it looks like the Catalan’s dream of going through are over before they’ve even begun.
They are deservedly favourites to win tonight’s game – only Madrid have won at the Nou Camp since April 2012 – and Milan are likely to be under pressure from the off.
However, Barca haven’t looked great for over a month now and they look likely to come up short here. The Rossoneri are around 1.64 on BETDAQ to qualify and that has to be the call.
