Malaga have been the surprise package of this season’s Champions League but they are still not being given the respect from layers that they deserve. They are priced up at around 9.4 on BETDAQ to beat Borussia Dortmund in Germany tonight in the second-leg of their quarter-final.
The tie is delicately poised after a 0-0 draw in Spain last week. That was another game where Malaga were underdogs, even though they had won three and drawn one of their four games at La Rosaleda Stadium in this season’s competition.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side have lost just once in nine games now – a 1-0 reverse in Porto in the last round – but they will face their sternest examination yet at Dortmund. The Germans were the most impressive group winners, coming through a group containing a trio of domestic champions – Real Madrid, Manchester City and Ajax – losing none and winning all three games at Westfalenstadion.
They were no match for the brilliance of Bayern Munich domestically, who have a sealed the Bundesliga already, but they are many people’s tip for the tournament outright.
However, the visitors have conceded only six goals so far and four of them came in two dead rubber games when they had already qualified for the knockout stages. A 4-2 loss to Real Sociedad on the weekend was hardly an ideal warm-up for this match, but they’ll be more focused later and are worth chancing with a +1 Asian handicap in what is likely to be a really tight encounter.
RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
