England couldn’t have warmed up for tonight’s crunch game in Podgorica against Montenegro in more comprehensive fashion than an 8-0 win over the world’s whipping boys San Marino on Friday. However, Roy Hodgson’s men could do nothing to prevent Montenegro maintain their two point advantage at the summit of Group H with an easy 3-0 win over Moldova.
Hodgson will have to field an inexperienced back line, likely to include Joleon Lescott and Chris Smalling in the middle, and they might just be vulnerable to the top Serie A pair of Stevan Jovetic and Mirko Vucinic, strikers who wouldn’t look out of place in most top European sides.

A loss later would mean England face an uphill struggle to take top spot and, with teams such as Spain and Portugal likely to be in the play-off mix, it’s a situation England will be more than keen to avoid.
