SHAMROCK STARTED AINTREE WITH A WINNING NAP: OK, so Annie Power wasn’t the greatest price (4/9) but she won in the way the odds predicted.

Annie Power landed the nap with consummate ease in the Doom Bar Aintree Hurdle yesterday – winning by 18 lengths.

No joy with the next best bet however, Ivanovich Gorbatov, who was beaten a staggering 41 lengths by the Willie Mullins trained Apple’s Jade – despite BEATING that rival by a length and a quarter in the Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. My head aches 🙁

Willie Mullins very much has the Grade 1 bankers on day two with Vautour in the JLT Melling Chase at 3.25pm and Limini in the Imagine Cruising First In The Frame Top Novices’ Hurdle at 2.15pm.

Both were impressive winners at Cheltenham and should have little difficulty in following up.

Vautour’s narrow defeat by Cue Card in the King George looked a superb run at the time and has been boosted since by Cue Card’s heroics yesterday. Vautour was hugely impressive at Cheltenham when landing the Ryanair Chase and main ‘danger’ Al Ferof (fourth) has nine lengths to find on that form. Vautour looks an armchair ride for Walsh.

We don’t know as much about Limini but we do know she is very good judged by her easy win in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham on what was only her third racecourse start.

She is taken to remain unbeaten and see off a much stronger challenge than she faced three weeks ago.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Limini (2.15 Aintree)
NEXT BEST: Vautour (3.25 Aintree)
DAQ MULTIPLES: DOUBLE the pair
