IRISH GUINEAS WEEKEND STARTS HERE: Huge weekend of flat racing at the Curragh with the 2,000 Guineas on Saturday and 1,000 Guineas on Sunday. The meeting gets underway tonight with the Group 3 Kerrygold Gallinule Stakes the feature.

A cracking weekend at the Curragh and ahead of the Guineas the Group 3 Kerrygold Gallinule Stakes is the feature on Friday’s card at 7.05pm.

Aidan O’Brien has won 11 out of the last 15 runnings and only Dermot Weld prevented him winning it for an incredible nine consecutive seasons when Speaking Of Which spoiled the O’Brien monopoly in 2012.

The two trainers may well battle out the 2019 running too. Constantinople is the pick of Aidan O’Brien’s trio and Dermot Weld runs the lightly raced Tinandali who won a big field maiden at Leopardstown last month on only his second start.

Constantinople was beaten a short head in handicap company at Cork last time out in what was a blanket finish. He has 5lb to find with stable companion Antilles on official ratings but probably has the greater scope.

Jim Bolger’s Bold Approach is by no means out of it if fully wound up on his first start since finishing second to Anthony Van Dyck in the Group 3 Tyros Stakes at Leopardstown last July but the percentage call looks to be Constantinople.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Constantinople (7.05 Curragh)
