DUNDALK ON FRIDAY: SHAMROCK’s NAP of the day runs in the maiden at 6.05.

Frustrating day yesterday. The thinking was right in wanting to take on Milsean who went off at 4/5 in the Michael Purcell Memorial Novice Hurdle at Thurles and could only finish second but unfortunately I opposed him with the wrong horse.

My nap, Fine Theatre was disappointing and the race was won by the Sandra Hughes trained Sub Lieutenant.

At Dundalk tonight I like the look of Hat Alnasar who I think will enjoy a fitness edge over chief BETDAQ market rival Maronella.

Hat Alnasar made a reasonable debut here over seven furlongs and was then stepped up to a mile last time and only beaten a head by the Aidan O’Brien trained Song Of Love. He should be equally effective back at the seven furlong trip.

Maronella, trained by Jonny Murtagh may well prove to be the best of these long term but has a lengthy absence to overcome since a promising third on debut at Navan. Given she is also unproven on the surface the safer bet tonight is Hat Alnasar.
