SHAMROCK landed his THIRD winning NAP of the week yesterday with PEARL OF AFRICA (NAP) WON 7/2 but he played with caution and only went in the place market as it was the same price on BETDAQ as favourite ALONG CAME CASEY (UNPLACED 4/5) was in the win market.
When does napping a winner feel like a loser ???
A: When you nap it in the place market and it goes and WINS the race !!!
That’s exactly what happened yesterday.
I’m not really complaining (much !!) as it was still a nice win and it’s easy to be smart with the benefit of results but as readers will know my dilemma yesterday was that I thought the favourite Along Came Casey was too short and I could get the same price about Pearl Of Africa in the place market – and have three chances of a return.
It proved spot on with Along Came Casey disappointing to only finish fifth in her attempt to win the the Listed Glencairn Stakes for the second year running.
It does mean that I’m now three winning naps from four so far this week…..

Jumping at Clonmel tonight – massive fields in all eight of the races.
It’s a really trappy card and in the opener I’m wanting to be against the BETDAQ favourite Hell Cat Maggie who remains a maiden after 11 starts.
I’m slightly surprised to see her drop back in trip after what I thought was a solid effort at Listowel last time out when she finished a close second to the Willie Mullins trained Ask Vic over 2m 4f.
Preference is for Jolaine who ran a good race in handicap company over course and distance last time out. I think that represents the best form on offer and at around 4.2 can hopefully continue the run of naps this week.
