SHAMROCK AT CHESTER: The BETDAQ sponsored Dee Stakes is the feature race on the card. SHAMROCK bids for a naps hat-trick today!

Two naps out of two at Chester this week but we haven’t exactly got rich at 8/15 and 4/11 and both Somehow and US Army Ranger made mighty hard work of winning.

The defection of High Grounds has left a field of seven for the BETDAQ Dee Stakes at 2.40pm but it looks quite open and it wouldn’t be a great shock if we got a surprise like we did last year when Not So Sleepy popped up at 11/1.

That broke a sequence of three consecutive wins in the race for Aidan O’Brien and the Ballydoyle handler has two runners chasing the prize today – Cook Islands and Housesofparliament. The latter is marginally the better horse on official ratings but the betting reflects the jockey booking of Ryan Moore with Cook Islands trading at around 3.2 on BETDAQ at 1pm.

Cook Islands performed the worse of Aidan O’Brien’s three runners in the Ballysax Stakes at Leopardstown on his seasonal reappearance but that run can probably be excused as it was on heavy ground and Cook Islands already has winning form on today’s expected good ground.

Housesofparliament is a little harder to calibrate ground wise. He won at Dundalk last time out on the all-weather and had previously run well on heavy ground at Leopardstown.

John Gosden’s Linguistic looks a big danger to them both but narrow preference goes to Cook Islands.
