END OF THE RUN: SHAMROCK’s bid for 20/30 NAPS in 2014 failed yesterday with Indian File. It’s 19/30 in 2014 and the current sequence is now ‘retired’ as he bids to start a new period of winning naps at Thurles today.

In the end I should have kept it simple. W P Mullins (NAP). That almost should be a standing order these days but I opposed the Mullins horse in the opener yesterday with Indian File who made the running but faded woefully.

So I couldn’t hit the 20/30. But as they say (well they don’t, but you know what I mean) 19 from 30 winning naps in 2014 isn’t bad.

Whilst quite a few have been short – equally there have been plenty returned at, say 4/5, that were 2.4 on BETDAQ at the time of selection. That’s a huge difference to the P & L.

I’m ‘retiring’ the sequence for the time being and looking towards the next 30 days – which of course includes Cheltenham.

We’ll start the new sequence at Thurles with Chute Hall who has form figures of 143222.

He has been given a break since finishing second to the highly regarded and Cheltenham bound Faugheen at Punchestown and with nothing of that calibre in today’s race can gain a first success over hurdles in the 2.45.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Chute Hall (2.45 Thurles)
