SHAMROCK AT KILLARNEY: We’ve waited 372 days to see the John Oxx trained Affinisea but the wait could be worth it.

It’s just over a year since the John Oxx trained Affinisea made a hugely impressive winning debut at Roscommon and tonight we get the chance to see him again in a 1m 6f flat race at Killarney.

He made his debut in a 1m 4f maiden on the flat and couldn’t have been more impressive striding clear from the Jessie Harrington trained Macnicholson to win by five lengths.

Hidden Cyclone is the obvious danger, on his first flat race since his winning debut at Gowran Park in 2010 !!! He has of course gone on to enjoy great success over the obstacles winning a further 12 races including two Grade 2’s over fences. At 11-years-old he might find his speed tapped over this trip and Galway is likely to be his primary objective.

Pyromaniac may be the biggest danger. The Tony Martin trained runner is another who is Galway bound but has plenty of class as he showed when finishing a close fourth to Silver Concorde in the November Handicap at Laeopardstown last October.
