SHOW BACK ON THE ROAD: After a quiet week on the Irish racing front Gowran Park and Dundalk resume the action today.
I’m a big fan of Dundalk. Hopefully it won’t be too long before we get another all-weather circuit in Ireland but for me they could stage double the meetings they do – especially during winter – and there always seems to be an equine demand for their races.
The 6.30 at the track tonight looks like being a shoot out between Abbey Vale and Polished Rock who head the BETDAQ market.
There’s little to choose between the pair on official ratings and I prefer the chance of the second favourite Polished Rock who I think still has the greater scope for further improvement.
Polished Rock makes his first start on the all-weather after three races on the turf at Leopardstown. He shaped best on his latest start when runner-up to Don’t Bother Me and the extra furlong tonight should suit.
Abbey Vale ran well when second at the course last time out but is already looking a little exposed.
