TWO 12-1 WINNERS FOR SHAMROCK: After back-to-back naps, it was the turn of Shamrock’s outsiders yesterday, with Maarek (WON 12-1) winning at Newmarket and Tannery (WON 12-1) scoring at Gowran Park.

2.50 The Curragh (Tetrarch Stakes): This race has produced two Irish 2,000 Guineas runners-up (Century City and Free Judgement) in the last decade but blinkers first time (Triumphant) and tongue-ties for Takar and Quote Of The Day suggest these are not up to much.

I certainly don’t fancy taking odds on about Takar, though he may win despite the ground being against him on known form.

I’d rather flirt with Janey Muddles (8.0 on BETDAQ) for Jim Bolger, who is 3-5 in the race since 2007. She’s been only four or five lengths off Chrysanthemum, Wading and- a month ago – Homecoming Queen.

3.20 The Curragh (Athasi Stakes): I shall probably regret opposing Ballydoyle again but Ishvana looks exposed – so did Homecoming Queen – and Bulbul is the soft-ground filly, sure to have come on for her seasonal reappearance.

4.25 The Curragh (Mooresbridge Stakes): A chance to get the nap back on track after yesterday’s unlucky faller. St Nicholas Abbey is a cut above this lot.

4.55 The Curragh: The top-grade hurdler Lethal Weapon is similarly head and shoulders better than this ordinary handicap field and the ground conditions should make it easy for him.
