IRISH COLTS TO HAVE THEM ALL AT SEA: It’s an Irish one-two at Newmarket, claims Shamrock, back to form with his nap yesterday. Today’s best bet is entrusted to an improver going for his hat-trick at Limerick.

They’re not born every minute. In fact, Born To Sea could be the last star of a great line, since his dam, Arc winner Urban Sea, was lost to us three years ago at the Irish National Stud.

Born To Sea will not follow in the footsteps of his close relative, the 2,000 Guineas and Derby winner, Sea The Stars, as I believe he’s a miler, and that he will have his day today in the Newmarket Guineas.

Conversely, Camelot looks a Derby winner in the making but I think that, taking the top thoroughbreds country by country, ours are way ahead of the English team (leader Trumpet Major) and potentially ahead of the French duo, French Fifteen and Abtaal, since Camelot’s stablemate Learn got within less than two lengths of French Fifteen at Saint-cloud after being five lengths adrift of Camelot in the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster.

I don’t know which way round it will be, but the value is with Born To Sea (12.5 on BETDAQ), with a saver on Camelot, in a confident Irish one-two.
Limerick: ‘Shark’ Hanlon has dropped back into the cold list and I can’t support his Clondaw Warrior (1.45) at odds on. I shall have an each-way bet on the Flat winner, Bramante, first time over hurdles for Conor O’Dwyer.

There seems no stopping hat–trick seeker, See Double You (3.50 Limerick), probably not even his latest rise in the ratings in this poor field, and I think he’ll help create a new naps sequence for me. I might double ‘See’ with ‘Sea’: I saw it first!

SHAMROCK’S BETS
NAP: See Double You (3.50 Limerick)
ENGLISH 2,00 GUINEAS: Win CAMELOT and win and place BORN TO SEA (3.10 Newmarket)
EACH WAY: Bramante (1.45 Limerick)
