SHAMROCK NOSE THE WINNERS: Exhortation only scraped home by a nose to land the SHAMROCK NAP on Friday at 5/4 in the 6.20 at Dundalk last night. Today he looks at Wexford and has one eye on Newbury.

I couldn’t quite match my colleague DAQMAN’s haul on the tipping front on Friday but was pleased to land the NAP last night. Whether I’ll consider backing Exhortation again is entirely another matter!

Can Aidan burst the Frankel bubble today at Newbury? Excelebration (similar in name only to Exhortation) has already tasted defeat at the hands of Frankel three times and if you are looking at the Irish raider causing a massive shock then it will probably come down to one single factor. And that is, how much has Aidan O’Brien improved the horse since taking over from Marco Botti ? Because, simply, he has to improve. I don’t buy the injury setback with Frankel as a factor. Trainer Sir Henry Cecil was unusually bullish this morning and reckons the horse is better than ever. That’s some statement.

The odds are probably right – it’s a race to savour and enjoy. As for the betting boots I’m heading to Wexford instead.

The opener looks hard. Miss Forde was a full 19 lengths behind Duntle when second to her at Dundalk on debut and that winner went on to run well when fourth in the 1,000 Guineas trial at Leopardstown for which she went off favourite. The third in that Dundalk race has won since but the presence of the David Wachman trained debutant Honky Tonk Queen makes this a no play race.

In the 3.15 there is a lot of collateral form suggesting there may not be much to choose between the seven runners and the BETDAQ market is backing that up. Zabana is a sporting nap for me. He was only two and half lengths behind Sinetta on debut at Dundalk and with a two pound pull plus likely improvement from that first start must have every chance of turning that form around.

At around 8 on the BETDAQ market his chance is much better than those odds suggest.
