Go on prove it! Nicky Richards is full of praise today for the middle-of-the-way novice chase that gives his 120-135 hurdlers a chance.
He’s actually talking about handicaps but the Sedgefield novices’ chase (1.10) might as well be: the likely dangers are giving 7lb to Richards’ Realt Mor and another Irish-bred, King Of The Gypsies.
Realt Mor is a 127-rated hurdler to King Of The Gypsies 130 but King’s crown slipped when sent over fences; he’s been deliberate and pretty much one-paced.
Realt Mor, on the other hand, jumped well over the stiffish Wetherby obstacles, only to come down at the last with the race won.
Easier fences and modest opposition rates Realt Mor a banker on the Sedgefield card today.
Judiciary (12.40) has to give weight all round, upped in trip for in-form trainer Tim Vaughan. But I prefer the Louth horse, All That Remains.
That’s not Co Louth but Louth in Lincolnshire, NE England, where Steve Gollings, who is in hot form with two winners out of three, scored with his last Sedgefield raider a fortnight ago.

Langley (2.40) will be hard to beat, and is the obvious saver, but Kingdom Of Munster is my win-and-place bet of the day, at 8.6, dropped two grades on his last run and seen in a big handicap at Cheltenham last year.
Sooner or later, he’ll be placed to clean up in a modest handicap. Just like today’s, Mr Fahey?
