THURLES: Stage a six-race all chase card today on heavy ground. Shamrock’s bet of the day comes in the 2.10.

Racing goes ahead at Thurles after a morning inspection.

Course officials needed to assess conditions as an overnight frost was forecast at the County Tipperary circuit.

But following an early-morning inspection, the ground was found to have been fit enough to stage the all-chase card.

Several of the races feature inexperienced or horses with dubious ability so with (generally) large fields it could well be a minefield for punters.

Star act is Forpadydeplasterer in the 1.35. He hasn’t won since the Arkle at Cheltenham in 2009 and even at this level couldn’t be backed with certainty as he has really struggled to get back to any kind of form.

The Mullins/Walsh combo let me down yesterday but I’m sticking with Vesper Bell today in the 2.10. His hurdling form was vastly superior and with a clear round should make the transition to the larger obstacles here.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Vesper Belle (2.10 Thurles)
