GALWAY DAY THREE: And it’s the Galway Plate to look forward to. It’s an earlier start today too with the first race at 3pm. SHAMROCK’s NAP runs in the 4.45.

We’ll stick with Dermot Weld for the nap on the third day of the Festival as I’m sweet on the chances of Three Kingdoms in the 4.45 race. He is trading around 2/1 on BETDAQ at midday and can build on the strength of an excellent debut effort at the Curragh when fourth to Regulation in soft ground. He steps up significantly in trip (1m to 1m 4f) and has the blinkers on for the first time but those factors should both be positives and can give the stable another win in the race to make it five wins from last nine runnings for the Weld team.

In the Galway Plate at 5.25 the three reserve horses all run following the defection of Finger Onthe Pulse, Daffern Seal and Torphichen.

Out Now is disputing favouritism and comes into the race with strong credentials. He ran a belter in the Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse finishing second to Lion Na Bearnai and travelled like the winner for much of the race. The ground and drop back in trip shouldn’t present any problems but his overall profile puts me off a little, having only won two races in his career.

At better odds (around 15 on BETDAQ) I thought Casey Top was interesting. I wouldn’t want to see much rain but was taken by his reappearance run at Killarney when he bolted up and this race was declared as the target after that win.

Tandem looks a banker for Weld in the final race and the BETDAQ price of 1.35 reflects that.

SHAMROCK’s BETS:
NAP: Three Kingdoms (4.45 Galway)
NEXT BEST: Casey Op (5.25 Galway)
