LEOPARDSTOWN LISTED ACTION: SHAMROCK looks at the two Listed races on the Leopardstown Sunday card.

The flat season is rapidly drawing to a close but we have a couple of good races to look forward to this afternoon at Leopardstown.

Firstly well done to the ‘magician’ of Ballydoyle – Aidan O’Brien. His Magician rocketed to a sensational victory in the Breeders’ Cup Turf at Santa Anita last night to snatch victory from The Fugue in the shadow of the post.

O’Brien and son Joseph were just denied in the richest race of the meeting – the Classic – when Declaration Of War was pipped into third in a blanket finish.

Leopardstown 2:00 Knockaire Stakes (Listed) (3yo+, Class 1, 7f, 16 runners) This might not be as competitive as the number of runners suggest and is surely an ideal opportunity for Big Break. The Dermot Weld trained filly won twice here as a two-year-old and comes here on the back of a close second in a Group 3 at Tipperary. Poorly drawn, but lightly raced she is my nap of the day.

Leopardstown 2.35 Eyrefield Stakes (Listed) (2yo, Class 1, 1m 1f, 5 runners) The blinkers go on Mekong River for the first time. He is progressing nicely and should extend his unbeaten sequence here.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Big Break (2.00 Leopardstown)
NEXT BEST: Mekong River (2.35 Leopardstown)
