SHAMROCK’S YEAR STARTS WITH 9/4 WINNING NAP: SHAMROCK made the perfect start to 2022 when his NAP and ONLY BET on New Year’s Day Mount Ida won the feature race at Fairyhouse at a rewarding 9/4.

Happy Nap Year !!! Mount Ida landed the first NAP of 2022 when winning the Grade 3 John & Chich Fowler Memorial EBF Mares Chase at Fairyhouse yesterday.

It was another strong ride from Davy Russell that helped get the mare home by half a length from the evens favourite Elimay and made for a great start to the year for fans of Mount Ida, including our own Daqman who has a tasty ante-post voucher for the Grand National which was recommended in his column.

Davy Russell has another high profile ride to look forward to at Naas on Sunday with the unbeaten Hollow Games who takes on stable companion Ginto in the Grade 1 Lawlor’s Of Naas Novice Hurdle at 2.10pm.

The BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE market favours Ginto at the time of writing but it would come as no surprise to see it flip flop or even see them sent off joint favourites.

Ginto has achieved more so far with his Grade 2 win last time out which was achieved in some style too whereas Hollow Games might just have the more scope of the pair – he’s unbeaten in five starts (a Point, two bumpers and two hurdles).

I marginally prefer Hollow Games of the pair but it might be dangerous to assume it’s a match. Both Whatdeawant and Grand Jury come into this on the back of wins and could easily progress.
