Three Group races in-a-row on Sunday:

2:55 Amethyst Stakes (Group 3) (3yo+, Class 1, 1m, 5 runners)

So hard to get away from DUNTLE here who is the highest rated in the field and proved her 18 length maiden success at Dundalk last season was no fluke when she went on to win a further three races, including the Sandringham Handicap at Royal Ascot and the Group 1 Matron Stakes here at Leopardstown after which she was controversially demoted. Sweet Lightning is the obvious danger but he was a disappointing 5/6 favourite when last seen out when fourth to Declaration Of War in a Listed race over course and distance.

3:25 Derrinstown Stud 1,000 Guineas Trial (Fillies’ Group 3) (3yo, Class 1, 1m, 10 runners)

It’s shaping up as a match on BETDAQ between We’ll Go Walking and Rawaaq (preferred by DAQMAN is his column today). I’m struggling to split the pair and prefer, on the place market, JUST PRETENDING for Aidan O’Brien. The most interesting thing about her is simply the fact she is in the race. She reappears after a runaway maiden win at Navan on Tuesday and whilst this represents a big step up in class it’s possible she’s up to it as she appears to be improving at a rate of knots. At around evens the place (1,2,3) this is my preferred option for the race.

3:55 Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial Stakes (Group 2) (3yo, Class 1, 1m 2f, 5 runners)

Aidan O’Brien has an astonishing record in the race with 8 of the last 12 winners and Battle Of Marengo should win easily en route to Epsom. A better tactic than the win market maybe the BETDAQ ante-post Derby market at around 6. A good win today should see you in a nice position for the Derby or, if you prefer, a trade. There’s more fat on the ante-post price to get a profit than the likely win odds today of around 1.3.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Duntle (2.55 Leopardstown)
PLACE: Just Pretending (3.25 Leopardstown)
ANTE-POST: Battle Of Marengo (Epsom Derby)
