TIPPERARY MIXED CARD: A great day of racing is in store at Tipperary on Sunday. SHAMROCK previews the Group 3 Concorde Stakes at 2.40 and the three Graded races over the jumps.

Unfortunately I couldn’t make it 8 winning naps from 10 yesterday – Guitar Pete traded short in running on BETDAQ but got run out of it close home.

A cracking card at Tipperary on Sunday and four big races to look at:

2:40 Coolmore Stud Home Of Champions Concorde Stakes (Group 3) (3yo+, Class 1, 7f 100y, 13 runners)

The BIGGEST priced winner of this race in the last six years has only been
3/1 but there’s a fair chance that stat will be blown out of the water as it looks a wide open renewal. Another stat is that Dermot Weld has won the last three runnings and is represented this year by Big Break who is returning after a break of 107 days. This looks an ideal opportunity for her – she already has winning form at Group 3 level and wasn’t disgraced when last seen in the Group 1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.

SELECTION: Big Break

3:50 Friends Of Tipperary Hurdle (Grade 2) (4yo+, Class 1, 2m, 8 runners)

Not too sure I want to be taking short odds about last year’s winner Captain Cee Bee. He’s now a 12-year-old, has been off the track for 252 days and although the form figures say he has finished fourth in his last two races – they both came in five runner events where he was soundly beaten. A place lay for me here with little downside.

SELECTION: Captain Cee Bee (PLACE LAY)

4:20 Dolores Purcell Memorial Novice Hurdle (Grade 3) (4yo+, Class 1, 2m, 8 runners)

Interesting race which sees the up and coming novice hurdlers Curley Bill and Que Pasa both bidding for a hat-trick. The Willie Mullins trained pair also have chances and it’s race I’m struggling to get an angle into.

SELECTION: NO BET

5:25 Like A Butterfly Novice Chase (Grade 3) (4yo+, Class 1, 2m 4f, 7 runners)

Rebel Fitz heads up to Graded company for the first time over fences but that’s only to be expected after an excellent start over the larger obstacles. He’s now won four in-a-row since tasting defeat first time out over fences at Killarney. This is much tougher for him but he jumped superbly at Galway last time out and is taken to give away the weight successfully here.

SELECTION: Rebel Fitz (NAP)

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Rebel Fitz (5.25 Tipperary)
NEXT BEST: Big Break (2.40 Tipperary)
PLACE LAY: Captain Cee Bee (3.50 Tipperary)
