The race of the day is unquestionably the 3.20 and it’s great to see Davy Russell back in the saddle for the one ride today onboard Rebel Fitz here – just a week after puncturing a lung at the Cheltenham Festival.
Russell said: “All went well with the doctor and he’s happy enough for me to go and ride away now. I’ve just the one ride, so hopefully all goes well and we can kick on from there.”
Russell is odds-on on BETDAQ to make it a winning return as Rebel Fitz is trading at around 1.7. Winner of the Galway Hurdle, his form is rock solid but the fly in the ointment is Tarla who returns to the hurdles after her two costly falls (4/11 and 4/9) over fences. On the figures, and at today’s weights there’s not too much between the pair. Certainly not as much as the market is indicating.
A safer nap for me is Patanne (Willie Mullins) in the closing bumper. His second to Some Tikket at Navan last time reads well given the winner followed up over hurdles on Monday (landing my nap) in grand style. The newcomers would need to be well above average to pose a threat here.
