SHAMROCK AT THE CURRAGH: Shamrock heads to The Curragh on Thursday for the start of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Festival.

All eyes turn to The Curragh and the Irish Derby meeting gets underway on Thursday tonight.

Aidan O’Brien looks to have a strong chance of a double in the first two races on the card but he may have to give way to Ger Lyons in the concluding maiden at 8.45pm.

The Ger Lyons trained Lancastria looks the answer to this 10 furlong event.

He finished down the field on debut at Cork but came on plenty for the run when chasing home Eminent Authority at Killarney last time out.

The form looks solid. Eminent Authority ran a creditable fifth to Dashing Willoughby in the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot last week and third placed Kangaroo Valley stormed home by eight lengths to win a maiden next time out at Tipperary.

The Aidan O’Brien trained Macquarie did much better when third over 1m 5f last time out at Navan and looks the danger.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Lancastria (8.45 The Curragh)
