Just six runners go to post for the featured Michael Purcell Memorial Novice Hurdle at Thurles this afternoon and four of the six were winners last time out.
My instinct tells me to be against the Willie Mullins trained favourite Milsean as he proved a bitter disappointment here last time when not jumping well and finishing second (at odds of 1/4) to stable companion Measureofmydreams.
He can’t really be a bet for me at current BETDAQ odds of 1.76 especially as he is up in class and the drop back in distance isn’t guaranteed to suit.
I thought Fine Theatre was an interesting alternative, trading around 8. He absolutely bolted home at Fairyhouse last time out relishing the testing conditions which he’ll get again today.
Dessie Hughes won the last three renewals of this so the chances of Sub Lieutenant and Total Recall, now in the care of daugher Sandra, have to be respected.
