PUNCHESTOWN GRADED ACTION: SHAMROCK previews each of the three Graded races on the Punchestown card as the new jumps seasons gathers pace.
Three good Graded races to look forward to on the Punchestown card this afternoon.
2:45 Grabel Mares Hurdle (Grade 3) (4yo+, Class 1, 2m 2f, 6 runners) Cailin Annamh is becoming a winning machine with five wins from nine starts and has only once finished outside the first two and that was on her debut. The Jessica Harrington trained runner is sure to take a deal of beating here as she comes fresh from a run at Gowran Park where she beat Jennies Jewel narrowly. That came on soft ground and she is even more effective on the quicker surface that she’ll get at Punchestown this afternoon.

3:45 Buck House Novice Chase (Grade 3) (4yo+, Class 1, 2m 2f, 5 runners) A race in which the market leader has had a good record in over the years and Art Of Logistics is set to start front of the BETDAQ betting after his debut win over fences at Gowran Park. However, I narrowly prefer the hat-trick seeking Darwins Fox who has also adapted well to the larger obstacles and comes here on the back of a Grade 3 success at Roscommon where he won easily.

4:15 Star Best For Racing Coverage Chase (Grade 3) (5yo+, Class 1, 2m 7f, 6 runners) The highlight race of the day for me. What odds it’s won by Gigginstown House Stud !! With four of the six runners in their ownership and white, blue and yellow caps called into action it certainly should be. Carrying the first colours though is First Lieutenant who was runner-up to Cue Card in the Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival and seldom runs a bad race. He should have enought class to win this on his reappearance and is hopefully tuned up enough. Biggest danger will come from Roi Du Mee who bids for a third consecutive win here.
