THURLES: The show is back on the road this afternoon with Thurles staging a seven race card with the highlight being the At The Races Michael Purcell Memorial Novice Hurdle (Grade 2) at 3.15.

Grade 2 action at Thurles this afternoon with the feature being the At The Races Michael Purcell Memorial Novice Hurdle at 3.15pm.

Jessica Harrington’s Our Duke could well be the one. He has the least experience but probably the most potential amongst the quintet and relished the step-up to this trip when staying on strongly to beat the odds-on Pylonthepressure at Leopardstown.

The pair finished 17 lengths ahead of the third and Our Duke now looks set to run a big race in this better grade.

Sandra Hughes won this race last year and has Acapella Bourgeois running today who already proved he’s a threat at this level when second to A Toi Phil in a Grade 2 at Leopardstown over this trip. I think the winner is smart, so despite being beaten seven lengths Acapella Bourgeois has very much to be respected.

Willie Mullins runs Nambour who won a Fairyhouse maiden hurdle but was then a little disappointing when a 26 length third to stable companion Up For Review in a Grade 2 over three miles at Punchestown.
