GOWRAN PARK: SHAMROCK looks ahead to this afternoon’s meeting at Gowran Park. The seven race card gets underway at 2.05 on expected good ground.

A typical end of season looking card at Gowran Park this afternoon. There are 20 runners in the closing maiden for horses aged three years and upwards !

The top of the card doesn’t look any easier – there are 11 debutants, with two from the Aidan O’Brien stable including the BETDAQ market leader Kellstorm who cost 875,000 guineas as a yearling and is a half-brother to Irish St Leger winner Order Of St George. I usually prefer the O’Brien runners after their debut runs but the stable remains generally in top form and the market support for this one is very strong.

The Join The Gowran Park Racing Club Today Race at 4.40 does look at least manageable from a punting perspective as there are now just four runners with the two non runners.

I’m very keen on Loch Garman here. He chased home stable companion Parish Hall in the Listed Alleged Stakes at the Curragh last time out. That’s very smart form in the context of this race and this lightly raced sort can defy his absence of 184 days to win here.

Mohaayed, who was sixth to Gleneagles in the Irish 2,000 Guineas, is the very obvious danger. He was fourth in a Listed contest at Listowel last time out.
