JUMPS RACING CRANKS UP A NOTCH: With the Ballybrit Novice Chase at Galway this evening. It’s the highlight on a seven race jumps card.

Jumps racing is slowly but surely coming back into focus and the Deacy Gilligan Ballybrit Novice Chase at Galway this evening looks at the mercy of the Willie Mullins trained Alelchi Inois.

Alelchi Inois has taken really well to fences, winning all three of his starts, including over course and distance last time out at the Festival meeting when staying on in good style to win by 13 lengths.

It might not be as straightforward as the odds suggest tonight as Alelchi Inois has to give away weight here and was found out when upped on Graded level over hurdles but he remains an exciting prospect over fences and is hard to oppose, but also difficult to back at around 1.45 – it’s a no play race for me.

Adian O’Brien does well with the relatively few hurdlers he runs and Waver can land the opener for the stable on his first start over jumps.

He won twice on the flat and should enjoy the test of stamina here and appeals best in a weak race on paper.
