SHAMROCK NEWS FILE: SHAMROCK wraps up the latest news stories as we reach just 20 days until the Cheltenham Festival.

NO RACING UNTIL THURSDAY: The next scheduled meeting in Ireland is Thurles tomorrow when the At The Races Michael Purcell Memorial Novice Hurdle (Grade 2) is the feature.

TODAY:
Fire extinguished
Min heads 46 in Supreme
Thurles Grade 2 action

  • ARCTIC FIRE OUT: Willie Mullins was dealt another major Champion Hurdle blow with the news that Arctic Fire will miss the race through injury. The champion trainer said: “It looks like he has a little chip off a sesamoid bone which will need to be removed.”. Arctic Fire joins stable companion and defending champion Faugheen on the sidelines this year.
  • AND THEN THERE WERE 46: The Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham has 46 entries following the latest acceptance stage. Min remains the warm favourite as he bids to give owner Susannah Ricci, trainer Willie Mullins and jockey Ruby Walsh a fourth successive win in the race.
  • THURLES QUINTET: Five runners have been entered for the At The Races Michael Purcell Memorial Novice Hurdle (Grade 2) at Thurles tomorrow. It looks competitive with Acapella Bourgeois bidding to give trainer Sandra Hughes a repeat win in the race after the success of Sub Lieutenant last season.
