NAAS LISTED RACE ACTION: SHAMROCK suffered a reverse yesterday when his lay selection agonisingly won in a photo finish. He heads to Naas on Wednesday.

The lay NAP yesterday, Darroun, never looked like winning the race at any stage. And yet it did – right on the line.

We had to sit and suffer for an extraordinary amount of time forthe judge to announce the verdict and would have settled for a loss reducing dead-heat but he gave the verdict to Darroun by the minimum nose.

There’s a good turn out for the big race at Naas this evening:

7.25 Dark Angel E.B.F. Sweet Mimosa Stakes (Fillies Listed)

Top of the official ratings is the Aidan O’Brien trained Snow Queen but there has to be concern about her ability to show her best form on this ground as both her victories to date have come when there has been heavy in the going description.

I’m not too keen on Boston Rocker either. She has only had the one win in 11 starts and although consistent invariably finds one or two too good.

A better proposition tonight might be Rae Guest’s UK raider Minalisa who seems to relish the quick ground and comes to this race in top form with two wins (Warwick and Yarmouth) from her last three starts.

She made all to win at Yarmouth and could prove hard to peg back here.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Minalisa (7.25 Naas)
