It’s likely to be even more testing at Navan today than it was at Fairyhouse yesterday with a forecast going of heavy ahead of their seven race card.

There might be some value in opposing the Aidan O’Brien trained Cheering in the maiden at 2.25pm.

Although she was a very promising fourth on debut at Naas ten days ago over six furlongs, she looked to me to be doing her best work near the end of the race so I’m slightly surprised to see her dropped back to five.

Gottardo looks a slightly more logical pick after his second over this trip to Aurora Eclipse at Naas in a big field. The winner went on to run well enough in Listed company next time out so the form looks solid enough. It was only yielding ground though so this will be a step into the unknown but that applies to plenty here.

At the time of writing Gottardo is more than double the price of Cheering which doesn’t make much sense to me.
