NAP THIRS AT 5/1: SHAMROCK’S NAP was third yesterday at 5/1. He tries to get back amongst the winners at Navan today.

I did warn yesterday that opposing Willie Mullins was a strategy fraught with danger and so it proved again.

My nap, Jimmy The Hat, finished a well beaten third behind the Willie Mullins trained winner Darroun at Tipperary.

At Navan this afternoon the opening maiden looks very modest indeed and it would come as no surprise to see the only debutant in the race, Maktoob, make a winning start. He’s out of a Group 3 winner in Tamayuz and the Kevin Prendergast trained runner is already fairly solid in the BETDAQ market.

It’s not my usual modus operandi, but on a day where the maidens on the card are dominated by debutants who look good on paper it might pay to take a chance on Maktoob having too much class for his rivals.

NAP: Maktoob (2.05 Navan)
