PUNCHESTOWN NAP: SHAMROCK bids to follow up yesterday’s winning nap with today’s best bet running in the Listed Quevega Mares Hurdle at Punchestown.

A winning nap yesterday with Augustin (nap) WON 1/2 in the final race at Clonmel. As the betting suggested, it turned into a match between him and second placed Fire In His Eyes.

Irish racing moves on to Punchestown for a good card on Wednesday.

Feature race is the Quevega Mares Hurdle at 3.05pm, a Listed contest and the favourite Meri Devie may be thwarted again by the Jessica Harrington trained Alletrix.

Although this is a different class level, there was a lot to like about Alletrix’s win at Leopardstown last time out where she stormed home by seven and a half lengths in a mares handicap hurdle. The Willie Mullins trained Meri Devie was 12 lengths back in fifth that day but has a massive weight swing of 23lb in her favour here.

However, Alletrix may confirm the form. She was previously a good Fairyhouse second at Grade 3 level behind Laurina who looks smart and is unbeaten. Meri Devie has let down supporters at short odds before and it is no gimmee that she will turn the form around on better terms.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Alletrix (3.05 Punchestown)
