WASHED UP: Irish racing was struck with a one-two blow by the weather today. Clonmel’s card this afternoon has been abandoned while Thurles on Thursday has also been called off.

Very disappointing.

Having waited a couple of days for the first Irish racing of the week we got the news this morning that Clonmel has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track.

The fixture was set to feature the Grade 3 Surehaul Mercedes-Benz Novice Hurdle.

Meanwhile the same fate has hit Thurles on Thursday.

Heavy overnight rain has taken its toll and officials found parts of the track to be unraceable when they checked conditions.

As a result, the seven-race card has been called off.

Dundalk will stage the first meeting of the week on the all-weather on Friday
