Sydney Sixers v Adelaide Strikers

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The Big Bash is back in full flow on Betdaq Betting Exchange after a short break for the Australia v Pakistan Test match. We have had some top class, high scoring cricket since returning and we should have another cracking game on Friday morning as Sydney Sixers take on Adelaide Strikers. Both sides will be very happy with their start to the tournament this season – Sydney Sixers are two from two, while Adelaide Strikers chased down 200/7 on Tuesday after their first game was called off without a ball bowled.

The Strikers have went with a mainly Aussie squad this season – obviously the Big Bash suffers from lack of star players from overseas, and the ones it does get tend to choose to play in the new South African or Dubai franchises mid-tournament. I feel a lot will depend on how Matthew Short, D’Arcy Short and Chris Lynn will bat for the Strikers this season – but they couldn’t have asked for a better start chasing down 200!

Once again, the Sixers look a very solid side. They are quite reliable in the Big Bash these days! Their batting won them the first game, their bowling won them the second game. They haven’t got a big name, but what they do have is a very settled squad and everyone knows their role. Pretty much what you need for Big Bash cricket! They will suffer losing some of their Aussies to Test cricket, but they should have enough back-up in the squad.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We’re back at the SCG, and the first game here was reasonably high scoring. Sydney Sixers posted 175/6 and defended it winning by eight runs. Generally the SCG has been a reasonably high scoring ground, but that wasn’t the case here last season. The first inning scores were; 137/6 (won), 150/5 (chased), 149/8 (won), 151/5 (won), 187/2 (won) and 116/9 (chased). Apart from one game, which was won by 125 runs after the Sixers posted 187/2 the scores were below average on long-term ground data. I would go into this game with an open mind on scoring conditions.

RECOMMENDED BET:

We have two very good sides here. Sydney Sixers are the favourites at 1.78, and while they are a very good side, we do have some nice batting on display with Adelaide Strikers. They couldn’t have started the tournament better either. I feel the 2.26 on the Strikers offers a little bit of value, and I’m happy with a small bet on the outsiders – I just expect a closer game than the odds suggest. I am worried about the Strikers bowling; they did concede a lot of runs in their opening game too but I’d still have the sides closer together in the betting.

The Edge Says:
One point win Adelaide Strikers to beat Sydney Sixers at 2.26 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

While I highlighted above that you should keep an open mind on scoring conditions, I do feel batting first will give a slight edge here. We saw some reasonably low, by today’s T20 standards anyway, scores defended here last season and the side batting first won the first game here too. Both sides are in a good place with their batting at the start of the tournament, and I don’t see any major negatives supporting either side with the bat – I feel the side who bats first will offer a nice trade.
