Rajasthan Royals v Mumbai Indians

MATCH OVERVIEW:

A new week beings at the IPL on Betdaq Betting Exchange and we have a fascinating fixture to kick us off! Rajasthan Royals host the Mumbai Indians and you might have to double-take when you see the odds here. Rajasthan Royals sit top of the table with six wins from their seven games – they have home advantage here too, however it is Mumbai Indians that come into the game as the favourites. That’s going to be a huge talking point here; Mumbai have played very average cricket at times this season and have managed just three wins from their seven games.

You could say that Mumbai started the tournament slowly and have now built up momentum with three wins in their last four games. We have had these kind of charges up the table from Mumbai in the past, however they had a much stronger side back then. There’s definitely nothing wrong with their batting line-up; but their bowling has been terrible at times. They have conceded scores of 168/6, 277/3, 127/4 in 15.3 overs (Mumbai only posted 125/9), 205/8, 196/8, 206/4 and 183 all out. I know it’s been a high scoring tournament thus far, but their bowling has really let them down so far and I don’t see that changing.

When the sides met earlier in the season, Rajasthan kept Mumbai down to 125/9 and chased very comfortably and quickly. The three recent Mumbai wins have come against three of the weakest sides in the tournament too in the shape of RCB, Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals. Rajasthan have been superb thus far; their bowling hasn’t been great at times either but their batting has also been fantastic. What a fascinating game, and market, ahead.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

Conditions at Jaipur this season have been very good for batting. The first inning scores have been 193/4 (won), 185/5 (won), 183/3 (chased) and 196/3 (chased). We can get a heavy dew here, and in the past it’s been a big edge to chase – however that’s levelled off a little in recent years. That being said, both sides have weaker bowling attacks compared to batting so I would definitely lean towards chasing in what should be a high scoring game. Don’t be surprised to see 200 chased down here.

RECOMMENDED BET:

As I said above, the odds for this one are surprising in my opinion! Mumbai come into the game as the favourites at 1.8 and I have to say that is very surprising. They are one of the most popular IPL franchises and you could say they have hit form with three wins from four games, but as I said their bowling is still very poor. That and their recent wins have come against the average sides in this year’s tournament. I just can’t have Rajasthan as big as 2.2 here – I fully accept that they have some flaws but they have been the best performing side and comfortably sit top of the table. At 2.2 I feel we’re getting so much value it’s worth a five pointer!

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

I have a very strong opinion on the odds here, and when you go into a game with a view like that it can be hard to trade. It already feels like this market will have a massive bias towards Mumbai and you’ll be swimming against the tide when is never easy when trading. I feel we might see the most market movement in our favour when Mumbai bowl – I’m very keen to take on their bowling unit as they have gone around the park so far and good batting conditions are expected too. The reality here is I’m surprised Rajasthan aren’t favourites so they will offer value in most situations, but their batting can win the day here.
