IPL Game 46 Mumbai Indians v Delhi Capitals

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We have another massive Double Header at the Indian Premier League on Saturday and all cricket bets are 0% Commission on BETDAQ Betting Exchange! We should have an excellent day in store, and I’m going to focus on the first game today for my preview as we start in Sharjah as Mumbai Indians take on Delhi Capitals. We’re getting down to the latter stages of the Group stage now and this weekend will be massive for everyone. At this stage last season, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals were clear at the top of the table – this season has been very different for Mumbai, and they’re going to have to battle for a Playoff spot.

You get the feeling that Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals will come up short, so it looks like a straight battle between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians for the final Playoff spot. KKR have arrived into the UAE is superb form too, so Mumbai need to finish the tournament strongly. This is always a high quality game of cricket between these two sides – Mumbai had Delhi’s number last season, beating them multiple times before beating them again in the Final – perhaps this is Delhi’s best chance of beating Mumbai with them performing under-par this season?

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We know by now that we are very unlikely to see the big scores at Sharjah that we saw at the start of last season. So far batting has been pretty difficult here and we’ve seen some of the lowest scores of the tournament. I’m fascinated to see what conditions will be like in a day game here, and we don’t have much of a guide to go off. We know we can rule out dew, so that makes life easier for the bowlers and I would expect a turning pitch with the spinners having a big say. It will be pretty hot, so I would bat first if I won the toss.

RECOMMENDED BET:

So far in the UAE Mumbai Indians have been a little disappointing. I still feel that they will make the Playoffs, but that’s probably because they look so good on paper. I believe they have the best XI, but they just aren’t firing at the moment. Maybe they will deliver when the pressure is on, and next week the pressure is really on. Delhi have impressed me, and they have an excellent team for UAE conditions. They did really well here last season, and they continue to play well. I expect a very close game here, and for me Delhi are the value at around 2.06. I would have them just marginally favourites.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

In terms of an in-running strategy for this game, I would start off very cautiously. Although we can expect tricky batting conditions, with this being a day game here and bringing different conditions, I would want to see what batting conditions are like before making any plans. That means you’ll have to react quickly when the game starts, but do take three or four overs to see how the wicket is behaving. I would expect spin to play a big role, and perhaps with no dew during the day the side batting first will have a slight edge. Having said that, if it’s a tricky batting wicket and conditions are very tough, it’s good to mainly focus on the bowling side. As we saw here too, chasing 125 isn’t straightforward – the best trade might be the back the bowling side and then switch at the innings break.
