IPL: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Saturday’s IPL game between Mumbai Indians v Lucknow Super Giants with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

Mumbai Indians v Lucknow Super Giants

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We have a massive double header at the IPL on BETDAQ Betting Exchangeon Saturday, but I’m happy to focus on the early game as Mumbai Indians take on Lucknow Super Giants! I’ve touched on this before in my previews, but it really does feel like a changing of the guard this season. That was highlighted again by Mumbai losing their fifth game in a row this week, and it’s hard to see them getting to the Playoffs now. They sit nailed to the bottom of the table with no wins from five games – even CSK have managed to get on the board!

Lucknow Super Giants were one of the new teams to enter the IPL this season, and they have started very well three wins from their opening five games. I remember watching their opening game when they lost to Gujarat Titans and thinking that they looked like a very good team – it was nice to land some nice bets on them after that especially when they beat CSK, and in general they have been playing some good cricket. They were a little unlucky to lose a very close game to Rajasthan Royals in their last game – they lost two wickets in the opening over of the chase, and then found themselves 14/3. They probably did well to get as close!

I really like the look of this Lucknow side – KL Rahul is a blockbuster opener with Quinton de Kock too, and then you have a middle order of Jason Holder, Hooda, Pandya and Marcus Stoinis. That’s pretty impressive and with Mumbai in such poor form I’m surprised to see Mumbai as favourites again!

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We’re at the Brabourne Stadium today and so far this ground has been very kind to the batters. This will be the sixth game here, with the opening five games seeing first inning scores of 177/5, 210.7, 180/8, 189/9 and 215/5. Three of those scores were chased down, but it must be remembered that we have had some heavy dew here. Obviously with this being a day game, that takes away the dew element so I wouldn’t be surprised to see the scores reduce a little here but overall this looks a very high scoring ground. Without dew, I would bat first – let the bowlers suffer in the heat of the day and put big runs on the board.

RECOMMENDED BET:

For me there’s a only one bet here and that’s Lucknow Super Giants at 2.02. Mumbai have been so poor so far in the tournament I just don’t understand them being favourites again. I can make sense of it – they are a massive side and have a brilliant history in the IPL, but they look weak on paper this season and their batting and bowling just hasn’t been good enough. The auction wasn’t kind to them this time around, and that is showing now. Their middle order lacks a star, and their bowling is very poor. Lucknow have a very solid look to their side, and a solid performance is what’s needed to beat this average Mumbai side. I’d have Lucknow as decent favourites here, and I’m happy to have a max bet.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

This ground has been very high scoring, so I wouldn’t spend too long on the bowling side! I know this being a day game takes the dew element out of things, so perhaps the bowlers can have better luck here. I really like to look of the Lucknow batting line-up – their openers, middle and lower order all look strong. However, I feel the best edge here will be taking on the Mumbai middle order with the bat and also taking on the Mumbai bowling. The Mumbai bowling has looked very weak so far in the tournament and with us having a high scoring ground here too it makes a lot of sense to be against them.
