AUSTRALIA v INDIA: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Sunday’s 2nd T20 between Australia v India with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

The Edge has been a professional cricket trader for over 12 years, and we are delighted to have his columns on BETDAQ Tips. He provides his best bets on a points scale between 1 and 5, with 5 being a rare max bet.

Because we see so much action in-running on cricket, he will also provide some in-running strategies that could develop in-play and lead to some excellent value bets. The Edge covers all forms of cricket: Test Matches, ODI’s and T20’s but his favourite competition is the Indian Premier League each season.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

Australia will be delighted to move back to the SCG on Sunday after two losses in Canberra. India took a while, but they have hit their stride in the last two games and it seems batting first suits them. It will be interesting to see what the captains do at the toss here. The conditions won’t change much between the first and second innings here so it will be purely tactics. India have benefitted from Jadeja finishing off the innings but he’s unlikely to play here.

The 1st T20 was actually full of controversy as Jadeja had a hamstring but then got hit on the helmet and was replaced by Chahal who then picked up three wickets as Australia tried to chase 161/7. Australia’s problem was that they started their innings too slow in my opinion, and that’s something that they’ll need to improve on here.

Although Australia won the ODI series, India and their fans will be saying it’s 2-2 on the tour and that sets up this game perfectly. A series win for India would be massive but they will need to improve their bowling here as Australia scored 374/6 and 389/4 in the ODI series here. India have batted very well, passed 300 every time in the ODI series and then 161/7 on Friday. We should have an excellent game!

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

The forecast looks good so we should have a good game. I’d expect a very good wicket here after seeing the two ODI’s and I’d probably opt to bat first given the big score on offer. At the end of the day, Australia have to start quicker but that shouldn’t be a problem with these conditions. The SCG is usually good for batting, and the average score in the Big Bash here last season was 166 – although we did see a lot of rain effecting games last season! Brisbane Heat scored 209/4 here and we saw 175/5 in another game too. I think the 160ish we saw in the 1st T20 would be light here.

RECOMMENDED BET:

I would definitely keep an eye on the latest news about Jadeja but I am going to assume he misses this game after being a concussion sub on Friday after the first innings. He finished the innings but was pulled out during the break. With him in such good form that is a massive loss for India and while Australia need to improve their batting at the start I feel that they are worth backing here at 1.94. The wicket should suit them today and hopefully they can get off to a faster start.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

The 1st T20 was another superb game for traders on BETDAQ Betting Exchange with plenty of swings in-running. The market fancied Australia to chase 161 as they were trading around 1.45 at the break but they came unstuck. As I said above the slow start played a key role in that and I would be looking out for how they start here as that’s definitely a trading opportunity.

I would be against India towards the death overs here without Jadeja, although Hardik Pandya can definitely move the market so beware of that. This could be another good game for supporting the batting side and I would focus on that unless conditions have changed a lot since the ODI’s here.
