BIG BASH: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Sunday’s Big Bash game between Adelaide Strikers v Sydney Sixers with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The Sydney Sixers have a busy weekend as they are back in action on Sunday again at the Carrara Oval in Queensland after playing Brisbane Heat at The Gabba yesterday. Unfortunately for them they lost as the Heat chased down their 165/8. In hindsight they lost too many wickets, but 150 looked a competitive score prior to that game so you’d have to say it was a poor bowling performance. Brathwaite really bowled poorly and gave Heat a massive advantage, but overall they are still in a good position in the tournament. One bad performance doesn’t make you a bad side.

Adelaide Strikers also arrive here after a poor performance as they could only manage 146/9 batting first against Perth Scorchers. It’s fair to say that the Strikers are having an up-and-down season; their stats reflect that with three wins and three losses. Their batting looks hit-and-miss to me and they were very poor against Perth apart from Alex Carey.

This is an interesting game, with two pretty evenly matched sides. I’d assume we will have a lot of flip flopping favourites on BETDAQ Betting Exchange in-running. I’m not surprised there isn’t much between them in the betting.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

Friday’s game was heavily impacted by the weather so check the radar before the off. We still got 17 overs in the first innings and 12 in the second so we had a game with plenty of time to spare. This will be the fourth game here, and so far we’ve had three winning chases. Sydney Sixers won with only one and two wickets to spare in their games, while Sydney Thunder were able to be ahead on Duckworth Lewis when the rain arrive chasing 166 – they were 117/2 after 12 overs. It’s fair to say it’s a very good batting surface and the bat will be on top of the ball. I’d be keen to chase looking at the first three games here.

RECOMMENDED BET:

Sydney Sixers will have a good feeling at this ground with two very close wins. They have batted very well here and I’m happy to have a small investment on them at 1.88 today. For me it will be a betting game and they have the stronger batting than Adelaide Strikers. The bowling looks pretty similar and unless we see a batting failure I’d expect a high scoring game with Sydney Sixers to out-gun the Strikers.

One point win Sydney Sixers to beat Adelaide Strikers at 1.88 on BETDAQ Betting Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

As I said above, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the favourite flip-flop a number of times in this game. I’m not a huge fan of the Adelaide Strikers batting so I would be wary when they are batting but conditions look like it’s a game to support the batting side. The Sixers were able to chase 193/5 here on Boxing Day so I’d be keen to get on the team batting first and then the chasing side when it’s their turn to bat.

I would lower stakes on the Striker batting however, and I’d always have my book tilted towards the chasing side. I’m not a fan of either side in the bowling department so I don’t see an edge there pre-off – the main edge for me is the chasing side and mainly trading the batting side expecting runs – get in and out for a few ticks.
