IPL: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Thursday’s IPL game between Delhi Capitals v Kolkata Knight Riders with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

Delhi Capitals v Kolkata Knight Riders

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The IPL action keeps coming on BETDAQ Betting Exchange and we’re back at the Wankhede in Mumbai on Thursday as Delhi Capitals take on Kolkata Knight Riders! These two have been struggling a little this season – for KKR that fans that is nothing new, they usually struggle a little and tend to finish strongly to take the final Playoff spot in fourth but they are leaving themselves a lot of work to do this season as they sit down in the bottom three. It was 2018 when they last finished in the top three – usually they come in between fourth and fifth. After all the criticism maybe they miss Eoin Morgan!

It was very surprising that Morgan went unsold at the auction given he’s still England captain, and it’s been a very popular opinion that his batting isn’t good enough these days. You know the IPL, they always go with popular trends! While KKR are struggling, so are Delhi Capitals. Delhi enjoyed a number of years of success when the tournament was held in the UAE – they had the ideal side for those conditions but with changes in the auction and conditions, they are struggling this season. They miss Kagiso Rabada of course; how could you replace him? And they also lack a star in the middle order to really grab hold of a game and change it when they are struggling.

In one sense that is what makes this game interesting. We have two struggling sides here, probably not sure what their best XI is, and there’s more questions than answers from their games so far. Another interesting day ahead at the IPL!

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

Scoring is generally good here at the Wankhede, as this is Mumbai Indians home ground we have a lot of data at this ground compared to the other grounds this season. We’ve had a lot of high scores here this season, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see another one here. We also have a game here on Wednesday, I would assume they’ll move wickets so I wouldn’t read too much into conditions in that game – the only thing to watch out for here is what the wicket goes very red and we see spin. Otherwise, the team batting first should be looking for 180 or more.

RECOMMENDED BET:

There isn’t much between the sides here, and I feel we’ll get a lot of swings either way in-running. Both sides have had their issues, but I feel we’ll see good batting conditions here so I want to be with KKR. They have the better bowling line-up in my view, and with batting conditions favouring the batters they might get away with their batting which has let them down so far. For Delhi they have had some pretty poor bowling displays, and if they bowl poorly again here they will go the distance at this ground. There won’t be much in this one, but it’s KKR for me at small stakes.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

As I said above, I would look to trade towards the batting side here given the conditions, however I do feel that taking on the Delhi middle order with the KKR bowling will be a very good angle here. The Delhi middle order lack a star to carry the side in my view. We’ve had a lot of success for the team batting first here – I would suggest that is a little edge and it will pay to support the side batting first for an early trade. Hopefully that’s KKR – we can support them while batting, and then take on the Delhi middle order under pressure in the chase. That would be ideal!
