Gujarat Titans v Sunrisers Hyderabad

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We have a huge clash at the IPL on Tuesday as Gujarat Titans host Sunrisers Hyderabad in Ahmedabad on Betdaq Betting Exchange ! This is a top of the table clash between two sides in excellent form, so we should have a cracking game. We all know how important getting into those top two spots is come the playoffs. Gujarat Titans have been the story of the second half of this tournament – they’ve produced a superb run just at the right time. Not only have they won their last four to go top at the weekend, they’ve beaten RCB, Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals on the way who had been sitting in the top three before Gujarat forced their way in!

Shubman Gill’s side have caught fire at exactly the right time, a 77-run demolition of Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on Saturday was the most complete performance yet. It will be interesting to see how they get on against another side in top form here. Sunrisers Hyderabad arrive here having spent much of the season at or near the summit themselves. Pat Cummins is back fit and captaining the side, and they come in off the back of a superb win over Punjab Kings. Their batting has been on fire – they smashed 235/6 with Klaasen smashing 69 and Ishan Kishan adding 55, before defending it comfortably by 33 runs. They’ve won six of their last seven, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma continue to be among the most explosive opening pairs in world cricket.

Both sides know a win here gives them a huge edge for a top two spot and all the advantages that come with it. As I said above, we have two sides in top form here so we should have a cracking high quality game.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

The Narendra Modi is obviously a great place for cricket – the biggest cricket stadium in the world. It has been one of the best batting venues in India in recent years as well, but the IPL scores here this season haven’t been massive. Fast bowlers get some early zip with the new ball, but once the shine goes it flattens out nicely for the batters. The first inning scores have been 210/6 (won), 180 all out (chased), 199/5 (won), 155 all out (chased), 163/9 (chased). I think it’s a no brainer to bat first – bowling conditions will be at their best early with the new ball and then if we get a heavy dew later that will obviously favour the chasing side too.

RECOMMENDED BET:

This should be a close game. Both sides are level on 14 points, both are flying, and both carry enormous match winning talent. It’s no surprise to see a reasonably even market, and you wouldn’t be surprised to see the market flip-flop either. Gujarat have the home advantage, and that actually counts for a lot for them given they have a good record here. I do feel Sunrisers have been slightly strong though, and I do agree with the market that they should be favourites. I really don’t see much between the sides here and this will be a game with very fine margins. I also feel chasing will offer the edge that could be the difference, and I’m happy to back the side who bowls first here.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

Given I have recommended supporting the chasing side here given the edge on offer, the in-running strategy feeds into that. This wicket does offer a little bit early, and then of course we could easily get a heavy dew which will be an advantage for the batters in the second innings as the bowlers struggle for grip. Both sides have been playing top cricket, so there aren’t many areas you’d want to be against for either side. I’m just keen to be on whoever chases here.
