THE EDGE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Tuesday’s Hundred format match between Northern Superchargers v Trent Rockets with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

Northern Superchargers v Trent Rockets

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The Hundred hits Headingley on Tuesday night as Northern Superchargers take on Trent Rockets. This should be a high quality game on BETDAQ Betting Exchange, both sides won their opening fixture and they have nice looking squads on paper too. Obviously losing Ben Stokes is a big blow to the Northern Superchargers, but they still landed a confident bet for us in their opening fixture, and they look to have a nice settled squad where everyone knows their role well. That kind of squad does well in these franchise leagues, because we all know the English stars will drop in and out for International cricket etc.

Trent Rockets also got off to a winning start chasing down a reasonably low score from Birmingham Phoenix. They have a very strong looking squad, but they will lose Joe Root when England play South Africa and then they are going to lose Rashid Khan here as Afghanistan play Ireland in Belfast. Rashid Khan didn’t go to well in the opening game, but he is still a massive T20 star and that just shows that the Hundred suffers from not getting the top stars. Having said that, only the IPL will ever be given that huge International window.

This should be a high quality game between two impressive sides. It will be interesting to see who Trent Rockets play instead of Khan, but the Trent Rockets top order looks very impressive for this level. Hales and Malan are an excellent opening pair, then to follow that with Munro, Root and Kohler-Cadmore is a very good batting line-up. It will be interesting to see can the Northern Superchargers bowlers deal with them.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We have another heatwave forecast for the UK this week, and this competition should benefit from that immensely. We should see full houses and we should have an excellent party atmosphere here too. Hopefully the wicket is good, and the crowd see plenty of runs! We had four games at the Hundred here last season, and the four first inning scores in order of games played were 173/4 (won), 127/6 (chased), 200/5 (won) and 143/8 (chased). This is the first game here this season, but I would expect good batting conditions. The weather will be good too which always helps – we shouldn’t see too much movement.

RECOMMENDED BET:

It’s no surprise to see Trent Rockets as favourites here given their batting line-up – it’s very impressive. I do feel the market has moved too much towards Trent Rockets though. We landed a nice bet on Northern Superchargers in their opening game, and I feel they are worth backing again here at around 2.2. As I said above, they have a very nice squad who gel together well in my opinion, and I know Rashid Khan didn’t perform as expected in his opening game, he is a big loss for Trent Rockets – as I said he is a T20 superstar. I just expect a closer game than the odds suggest here and I’m happy to take the value on Northern Superchargers.

The Edge Says:
One point win Northern Superchargers to beat Trent Rockets at 2.2 with Betdaq Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

I would go into this game expecting a good batting wicket. We have had a few big score sat Headingley over the last few years in T20 cricket, and we saw 200 scored here last season. Both sides have very nice batting line-ups, and I wouldn’t mind supporting the side who bats first either way. Obviously you’d want to confirm that we have a very good batting wicket, but I would spend most of this game looking for trades on the batting side – I can really see the bat going out on top over the ball here. I don’t have any players I’d want to target to take on here – both sides performed well in their opening games.
