MATCH OVERVIEW:

The Caribbean Premier League leaves the Brian Lara Stadium and moves to Queen’s Park Oval on Tuesday as St Kitts & Nevis face Barbados Tridents. We saw some excellent and dramatic cricket at the Brian Lara Stadium, however I’m sure the players are glad to be leaving that pitch behind! Although having said that, the spinners will probably be on top at Queen’s Park Oval too given the conditions in the West Indies.

Both sides are coming into this game off a loss with St Kitts losing to the Zouks and Barbados losing to Trinbago at the weekend. Trinbago have been playing some excellent cricket and we landed our bet on them at the weekend. We also landed our bet going against St Kitts and I think it will pay to go against St Kitts again here.

St Kitts have been very poor and sit bottom of the table. They have played three and won none; however Barbados are second last with one win from three games. These sides actually met on the first day of the tournament and Barbados won, defending 153 – since then they didn’t have the weather in their favour against the Zouks and played well although lost to a good Trinbago side. Their bowling in that game is a worry, but they should beat this poor St Kitts side.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

As we are moving to a new stadium, I would certainly suggest checking out the first few overs to see what conditions are like. From what we saw at the Brian Lara Stadium, it was definitely easier to bat in the first game of the day and got really tough in the late fixture. We’ll just have to wait and see does the same happen here.

We have a bigger sample of game at Queen’s Park Oval with the average score batting first in the Caribbean Premier League 146 in 2017, 194 in 2018 and 166 in 2019. We have had some really big scores here in the past and we should see a better wicket for batting than last week. The lowest amount of sixes recorded in a CPL game here is 10 – so expect plenty of big hits!

RECOMMENDED BET:

I really like the Barbados bet here at 1.81. They have a huge amount going for them and St Kitts have been very poor in general. Indeed, Barbados have already beaten St Kitts only a short while ago. We will have a different stadium and different conditions here, but Barbados have a much better squad than St Kitts. They bowled poorly in their last game when losing to Trinbago but Trinbago are an excellent side, and Rashid Khan is never quiet for too long!

St Kitts have been very poor with the ball in hand, and if we do get some excellent batting conditions then the Barbados batting line-up can knock it around the park here. The 1.81 is too big.

The Edge Says:
Three points win Barbados Tridents to beat St Kitts & Nevis Patriots at 1.81 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

With this being the first game of the tournament at the Queen’s Park Oval; it would be shrewd to watch the opening overs and get a feel for conditions. On paper and looking at past scores, you would expect a better wicket for batting – however that doesn’t mean we will get one!

From the teams point of view, St Kitts have been very poor when bowling and with Barbados having a reasonably strong batting line-up I would be keen to look for trades on Barbados when batting if the wicket was good. If the wicket is just like the Brian Lara Stadium then I would stay focused on the bowling side!

Although Barbados lost their last game, their openers were excellent and they can continue in good form. That might be a nice opening trade if they are chasing on a good wicket.
