THE EDGE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Wednesday’s Caribbean Premier League clash between Jamaica Tallawahs v St Kitts & Nevis Patriots with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

Jamaica Tallawahs v St Kitts & Nevis Patriots

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The Caribbean Premier League moves onto Port of Spain in Trinidad on Wednesday! Jamaica Tallawahs take on St Kitts & Nevis Patriots on BETDAQ Betting Exchange with both sides still in the mix for the playoff places. I have to say the St Lucia Kings were a surprise package at their home venue, and they have moved into the mix too. They have the same amount of points as the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots after six games. Jamaica Tallawahs have been clear second best behind Barbados Royals who have looked different class, and when you look at the table you can see how important this game here.

Given we had some rain issues early in the tournament, we arrived into Trinidad with just three points between second and sixth – basically everything is to play for. What is surprising is Trinbago Knight Riders sat in last as the sides moved – considering they have the strongest squad on paper I doubt many expected that. They have Narine, Munro, Pooran, Russell and Pollard in their XI!

St Kitts & Nevis Patriots have looked an average side. I believe they are further up the table than they should be because of the points with the weather. Their batting has looked pretty poor, and they have suffered three heavy defeats – 47 runs, 7 wickets and 61 runs. Apart from the loss to Barbados Royals who top the table, Jamaica have looked rock solid. Their bowling is pretty impressive, and they deserve to be favourites here.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

This will be the second game taking place at this ground, so we might get an idea on conditions from Barbados Royals v Trinbago Knight Riders which gets underway at midnight on Tuesday before this game takes place on Wednesday afternoon. We had no CPL cricket here in 2021, but this was one of the grounds used in 2020. Scoring looked very tough at times with the highest score being 151/7 in the first game here. The lowest score was 92 all out, which was actually defended (20 overs too). That was a long time ago now, so I would keep an open mind. It definitely looked a little edge to chase here because the side batting first always aimed too high and then fell short, plus dew at times.

RECOMMENDED BET:

As I said above, I feel St Kitts & Nevis Patriots look pretty average and I am confident on the Jamaica Tallawahs win here. I felt they would be trading shorter than 1.8 before checking the odds, and I’m very happy to take the 1.8. While I am confident, I won’t be having a Max Bet. I know those ground stats above are from 2020 and a lot has changed since, however it does make me believe scoring will be tricky here which might bring the sides closer together. That being said, the St Kitts batting has looked very poor and they will really struggle in touch conditions, plus added to that, the Jamaica bowled has impressed.

The Edge Says:
Three points win Jamaica Tallawahs to beat St Kitts & Nevis Patriots at 1.8 with Betdaq Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

Given we’ve had plenty of rain around in the CPL this season, it always pays to keep the radar open close to game time and then during it. It’s just a no brainer to see if anything is popping up – while the showers are short they are intense. Looking the ground data it appears to be a little edge to bowling first – we’ll know more after the early games here, but I would have in the back of my head. Batting has looked tough here in the past too, so I wouldn’t be focusing on looking for trades on either batting side. I feel the biggest edge here will be taking on St Kitts while they bat.
